The Animal Rescue Fund

The Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) is a compassionate organization primarily funded by donations and operated by dedicated volunteers, with the support of FoxNest Veterinary staff. Additionally, ARF benefits from a dedicated group of supporters who organize various fundraisers throughout the year to provide additional financial assistance to the shelter.

ARF’s mission is threefold. First, they strive to save the lives of abandoned pets who are left to fend for themselves. Second, they work towards making the pets in their care healthy, comfortable, and loved while they await a responsible new home. Lastly, ARF promotes responsible pet care, including spaying/neutering, vaccinations, parasite control, and regular veterinary care.

Lancaster County Animal

Lancaster County Animal

The Lancaster County Animal Shelter is a safe haven for stray and surrendered animals, providing care and shelter. If a stray pet is not claimed within a 5-day period, the animal becomes the property of Lancaster County. After that, it may be offered for adoption to animal rescues and the general public.

All animals at the Lancaster County Animal Shelter undergo behavior tests to assess their suitability for adoption or rehabilitation. Before being adopted, animals are spayed or neutered, given booster shots, a rabies shot, de-wormed, and micro-chipped, with adoption fees covering the costs of these services.

Once an animal is approved for release, it can be placed with an adopter or a rescue group. The shelter’s staff carefully matches animals with families or rescue groups based on size, temperament, condition, and personality, ensuring the best placement. While the shelter cannot provide financial assistance for individual pet owners’ health costs, they offer a range of resources and grant opportunities that may be beneficial.

The Lancaster County Animal Shelter’s commitment to responsible animal care and adoption extends beyond county borders, as they also welcome adopters from outside. By providing essential medical care, behavior assessments, and responsible adoption practices, the shelter strives to positively impact the lives of animals and their new families.

All4Paws

All4Paws

All4Paws Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization established in June 2011 to save as many homeless, abandoned, and threatened dogs and cats as possible. They obtained their 501c3 not-for-profit status in 2011 and set up their official shelter and home base in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, in early 2012.

In their first year of operation, All4Paws rescued and placed over 1,000 dogs and cats in loving homes. They expanded their rescue efforts in 2012/2013 by saving abandoned or soon-to-be euthanized animals and transferring them to other shelters willing to accept them. They also established a Compassion Fund in 2013 to help cover the costs of saving special needs animals that most shelters and rescue groups would not accept or try to save.

In 2013, the owners of their rental property on Waverly Road expressed their desire to sell, but All4Paws could not afford the asking price. However, an alternate nearby location became available. With the help of notable supporters who stepped up financially, All4Paws was able to acquire and equip the new facility at 708 Petigru Drive as their permanent shelter home.

The new facility was renovated to serve the needs and functions of All4Paws best. It includes raised Mason dog kennels and ductless AC systems to prevent contamination and the spread of shelter diseases and secure outdoor exercise areas.

All4Paws has also established strategic partnerships with national organizations like Petco and Petco Foundation to further their mission of saving and caring for animals in need.
